I have pretty much abandoned this blog. I just ran out of things to say about my status. I'm broke, training hard and just doing everything I can to make this dream real. So not much has changed ;)
On July 20th, I left my comfort zone of Richmond, BC to venture to Solingen, Germany to play for STC BW Solingen. Basically, the ClearOne Olympic Academy shut down, and I ran out of money. So I spent the first bit of my summer after graduating high school working to save up enough to fly out.
I came here because of the higher level, the cheap/free training, and the experience. I believe that if I'm going to give being a World class badminton player a shot, this is a better place to be than Canada. I can't afford Denmark or Asia.. Yet ;)
I work for STC as a coach as well. It's not enough to live off of, so I will hopefully find more work soon. But it's already more than I had in Canada. I really really REALLY miss the Asian culture of Vancouver. The cuisine especially. To be able to go around the corner and have an amazing meal for a few dollars is really something I miss so far. Being in Germany has really reminded me how much I enjoyed living in Richmond/Vancouver. I really miss it, and I left something very important and special there I will have to go back to find it someday ;)
I don't think I will be using this blog very much anymore, changing instead to a briefer Facebook page. You can find it here
In the meantime, you can check out my friend and training partner Luke Couture's Blog. He is a singles player and he headed off to Denmark to play, train, and work. He is by far one of the hardest workers I have ever seen. You can find his blog here
Until next time,
