You are a unit, not an Individual.

One of the most important things my Indonesian coaches have taught me when I decided to switch to the doubles events is the importance of unity on the badminton court. You have to work together to win, therefore you have to support each other in any way you can. If you get mad every time your partner makes a mistake, you can't possibly be helping him/her. It is much better to offer up some encouragement. My coach always tells me there is no blame in doubles. There is no "We lost because of my partner." That just isn't how it should be. It obviously doesn't make your partner feel good. I've been in situations where I've experienced both ends of the spectrum, and I can tell you that it is much easier to play with a happy partner. I just feel better. Not to mention play better. When I play with the National level seniors in practice I am often the weakest link leading my confidence to fade as the match goes on. But when the person I am playing with is positive, it is much easier to play with more confidence.
That's my tip of the month I guess. Be positive on the court.
